Health and Welfare Fund Report – Mike Storey
- Health and Welfare Trust (HWT) Notes: December 17, 2021 meeting
- Metlife reports a 90% loss ratio from July-Oct, 2021. Pretty normal for this time period. No issues with MTA claims.
- The Gray Group reposts that the Fund is doing well. Equities are performing well with a 13.5% increase this year. Fund has increased an average of 11% over last 5 years. Commodities are a good investment during an inflation.
- KD/HPI reports that enrollment in the plan is down 5% from 9267 in March to 8792 in November. Caused by positions where employees have left or been eliminated across the state have not been filled.
- Treasurer reports that Fund has moved from E. Boston Savings to Rockland Trust. Recommendation is to move Fund to Salem 5 from Rockland Trust because the team we worked with at E. Boston Saving is now working there and they are more receptive to Funds the size of the HWT.
- Passed revised Travel policy for any trustees to attend Fund business or conferences across the country.Next meeting – February
