President’s Report – Seth Bean

  1. APA Contract Ratified by membership as of January 22, 2025
  2. Status of Tentative BHE-APA/MTA/NEA Agreement
    • Seth signed and returned to DHE.
    • A&F now sitting on contract.
  3. Proposal for Maritime was not included the APA contract and it was agreed that this would be done as a ‘side’ MOA. There is money involved and it would have caused the CBA to be rejected by A&F, so the only option was a separate agreement with the Council of Presidents (CoP). Other ‘Side’ MOU’s completed with CoP include:
    • Meal Allowance Minimums
    • EMT Certification Reimbursement $850 to $900
    • Minimum Stipends on Acting position $100 to $125 & $120 to $150
  4. HELC – looking to address federal grant funded positions.
  5. MTA – creating working groups to address DEI as well as ICE
  6. Higher Ed Conference Saturday, March 1, 2025 DCU Worcester
    • Higher Education Conference Pre-conference Social with the Panelists Friday, Feb. 28th 6:30 – 8:00 pm Hilton Garden Inn
  7. From Sean Barrett:
    • Two possible Arbitrations at Worcester State
    • Police Lieutenants & overtime. May be Fair Labor issue

Treasurer’s Report – Maria Brunelle

  1. Payroll due on Friday, February 21, 2025 by 12:00pm

Membership and Data – Aaron Childs

  1. 533 Overall Membership since January 2025. A Decrease of 7.
  2. 303 Non-Dues Paying Member. An Increase of 8 since January 2025.
  3. Google sent out a notification that pricing for our accounts will increase to $16.80 per user per month. That’s up from $14.00. Will take effect in March 2025.
  4. Former member at Westfield who transferred to MSCA was still having their dues taken out. Maria will issue a refund check of $897.78.
    • Similar issue at Fitchburg, waiting for their payroll clerk to run a report from HRCMS to verify the dues were taken out. That former member is looking for an $89 refund.

    • Bridgewater (Must occur within 90 days of new contract ratification)
    • Fitchburg (Must occur within 60 days of new contract ratification)
      • Nominations Due no later than 5:00pm on February 28, 2025
      • Elections will be held on March 31, 2025
    • Framingham (Must occur within 90 days of new contract ratification)
      • Committee Members: Nastasha Bizanso-Ashe, Kathleen Brosnihan, Peter Chrisafideis
      • Nominations Due no later than 5:00pm on February 28, 2025
      • Elections will be held on March 31, 2025
    • Mass College of Art & Design (Must occur within 60 days of new contract ratification)
